City expects to receive $450K to improve Belmont, Ridge Street neighborhoods
The Daily Progress Monday, May 07, 2018 at 12:01 a.m.

Charlottesville officials are anticipating the city will receive about $450,000 in federal grants within the next year to support nonprofit partners, affordable housing initiatives and public infrastructure projects in the Belmont and Ridge Street neighborhoods.

At its meeting Monday, the City Council approved a five-year plan for housing and community development and an action plan for the 2018-19 fiscal year — which also serves as an application for HOME Investment Partnership and Community Development Block Grant funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

The city will allocate $200,000 to projects in the Belmont neighborhood, approximately $140,000 for home rehabilitation projects and home down-payment assistance programs and about $70,000 for economic development and public service projects.
