Proposed Albemarle budget brings staffing back to pre-recession levels

For the seventh year in a row, Albemarle County has added new positions in the budget, which brings county staffing slightly above pre-recession levels.

According to information from the county’s office of management and budget, the board’s proposed budget adds 32.75 positions to the county. The net cost of those positions in fiscal year 2019 is about $2.35 million.

The county executive’s proposed budget included 29.25 additional positions, 6.5 of which were added over the last nine months outside of the budget cycle.
