Starting Sunday, Harrisonburg housing authority to aid Charlottesville in running Section 8 program

Throughout the next six months, the Harrisonburg Redevelopment and Housing Authority will be assisting its counterpart in Charlottesville manage its housing choice voucher program — also known as Section 8 — for low-income households.

In addition to helping oversee the local administration of the federal housing program, a resolution the Charlottesville Redevelopment and Housing Authority approved Monday states that Harrisonburg officials will be conducting a comprehensive review of how CRHA is managing it.

Altogether, Charlottesville’s housing authority is expected to pay approximately $10,000 for the Harrisonburg’s assistance, which is scheduled to start Sunday and end Oct. 31.
