Albemarle eyes ways to get parks developed

Albemarle County now has responsibility for more than 2,000 acres of undeveloped park land but has very little planned funding to open the parks.

The Board of Supervisors soon will decide which local government projects, if any, to include in a potential fall bond referendum, with some parks and recreation department projects as options.

The county is also about to complete a community recreation needs assessment, which will help to establish priorities for the future development of facilities, programs and services for the parks and recreation department.
