County, city reps largely commit to IMPACT requests on affordable housing

More than 1,000 individuals representing 27 area congregations gathered at the Martin Luther King Jr. Performing Arts Center on Tuesday night as a part of an IMPACT Charlottesville meeting demanding action for affordable housing.

Representatives from several congregations spoke at the event, sharing their stories of difficulty finding affordable and steady housing.

Brenda Brown-Grooms returned to Charlottesville in 2011 to help pastor New Beginnings Christian Community. Finding housing proved difficult and claimed upwards of 90 percent of her income.
