Crescent Halls’ woes continue

A small group of people gathered in the main lobby of Crescent Halls on Friday afternoon, laughing about a problem with the building and the media attention it was receiving a day after a plumbing problem caused a common area bathroom to flood part of the first floor.

In a series of interviews Friday, several residents said there recently have been plumbing issues in the public housing site for the elderly and people with disabilities, but had different opinions about how the Charlottesville Redevelopment and Housing Authority is managing the building.

“The room was wet all over with nasty water,” said Deborah Booker, president of the Crescent Halls Tenant Association. “You could not breathe when you walked through the front door.
