Opinion/Editorial: Courthouse move fails to gain public traction
Daily Progress Editorial Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at 7 a.m.
Albemarle County has failed to ignite much — if any — enthusiasm for moving its courts out of Charlottesville.
Absent any surprise justifications for moving that are yet to be revealed, the choice seems obvious: Work with Charlottesville on the best options for retaining the courts downtown.
Then, if Albemarle still insists on shifting some functions out of the city to boost development in the county, it can move government offices from the old Lane High School to a new site.
The problems with staying downtown, however, are real and they’re quantifiable.
