Albemarle supervisors hear tax-rate, fiscal 2017 surplus proposals

The Albemarle County Board of Supervisors on Wednesday heard recommendations from county staff about proposed tax rate changes and what could be done with the fiscal year 2017 surplus.

Lori Allshouse, the county’s director of office of management and budget, presented the proposals during a two-year fiscal plan work session. Staff will request approval of the recommendations at the board’s Dec. 13 meeting.

For fiscal 2019, the county expects a 1.5 cent increase in the real estate tax rate
