Website, tip line established in Heaphy’s probe of city

Former U.S. Attorney Tim Heaphy on Tuesday announced the launch of a website and telephone tip line for anyone with information that could be useful to the ongoing independent review of the city of Charlottesville’s preparations and response to recent rallies.
The website is and the tip line number is (877) 4-HUNTON.
“What we’re looking for are personal experiences, narratives of things that people saw, things that people witnessed, things that might inform our evaluation of what was done and what was not done,” Heaphy said at a news conference Tuesday.
Heaphy was appointed by Charlottesville officials on Aug. 25 to investigate the city’s planning and response to multiple incidents in the last few months, including the Unite the Right rally on Aug. 12, which resulted in one death on the Downtown Mall and dozens of injuries.
