The Paramount Theater announces the 2017-18 Arts Education season, which includes twenty-two live performances from October 2017 through May 2018, offered for local youth and educators. The Paramount Theater has proudly served the Central Virginia community with the Arts Education Program since 2004. On average, the Arts Education Program serves approximately 15,000 students and teachers each season, and provides additional financial assistance to thousands of participating students who receive free and reduced meals at their school. Each performance season is aligned with the Virginia Standards of Learning (SOL) objectives and is coupled with study guides available on The Arts Education season webpage.

This season’s performances include: Pilobolus; Monkey Baa Theatre Company’s The Unknown Soldier; Enchantment Theatre Company’s My Father’s Dragon; Mermaid Theatre of Nova Scotia’s Guess How Much I Love You & I Love My Little Storybook; The Opulence of Integrity; Lionheart Youth Theatre with Glass Half Full Theatre and Mother Falcon’s Petra and the Wolf; Childsplay’s Go, Dog. Go!; Mad River Theater Works’ Freedom Riders; Erth’s DINOSAUR ZOO LIVE™; and Tall Stories’ The Gruffalo.
 
The Paramount Theater is pleased to announce Dominion Energy as a sponsor for the 2017-18 Arts Education Season. The Dominion Energy Charitable Foundation provided $10,000 in funding to support the program.
 
“We are excited for the upcoming season and delighted to help ensure all students have equal access to the exceptional live performances offered by The Paramount Theater through the Arts Education Program,” said Hunter A. Applewhite, president of the Dominion Energy Charitable Foundation. “All students should have the opportunity to experience live theater, and we’re proud of this effort to foster a lifetime of appreciation for the performing arts.”
 
In addition to these Arts Education presentations, select titles will also be available to the public, including  
Pilobolus on Thursday, October 12 at 8:00PM; Guess How Much I Love You & I Love My Little Storybook on Wednesday, December 6 at 6:00PM; The Opulence of Integrity on Thursday, January 18 (time TBA); Go, Dog. Go! on Wednesday, February 21 at 6:00PM; Erth’s DINOSAUR ZOO LIVE™ on Sunday, March 25 at 4:00PM; and The Gruffalo on Sunday, May 13 at 4:00PM. Tickets for Pilobolus are on sale now and can be purchased online at www.theparamount.net or in person at the Box Office, 434-979-1333. Tickets for all other public performances will go on sale this Fall.

During the 2016-17 season, The Paramount Theater welcomed 16,000 students and teachers from around Central Virginia as well as professional artists from all over North America. In total, The Paramount assisted 4,000 students with financial assistance beyond the subsidized ticket price of $7.50. Since 2004, the Theater’s Arts Education Program has served over 158,000 students from throughout Central Virginia.
