Supervisors: Clarity needed on revenue sharing agreement

Some county residents want the Albemarle Board of Supervisors to renegotiate or end the revenue sharing agreement the county has with the City of Charlottesville.

The revenue sharing agreement was approved in 1982 in a deal to prevent the city from annexing valuable county land, but required the county to share some of the revenue generated by that land with Charlottesville.

At its meeting Wednesday, the board had a work session on the history of the agreement, frequent questions about the pact and its benefits to the county facilitated by county attorney Greg Kamptner.
