City officials proposing locally-funded housing voucher program

Hoping to help some of the approximately 1,600 people seeking public housing or federal housing vouchers in Charlottesville, the city’s housing authority and local government are developing a locally funded housing voucher program.

In an email Tuesday, a Charlottesville Redevelopment and Housing Authority official said the proposed program could provide rental assistance for 100 to 120 families within a year of its adoption.
