Democrat Liz Palmer is a candidate for the Samuel Miller District seat on the Albemarle County Board of Supervisors. Four of the six seats on board will be determined in the November 5 election. Other candidates in this race include: Duane Snow (R).

Bio: Dr. Liz Palmer has been deeply involved in local civic issues for over 15 years. While hiking with her children along the depleted Moormans River in 1996, she was shocked to see that the river had run dry because we had cut off its natural water flows. She eventually was instrumental in bringing together the environmental and business communities, as well as city and county officials, to adopt a water-supply plan that both protects our rivers and provides 50 years of adequate water for residents and businesses. Liz emphasizes collaborative, fact-based decision-making while finding ways to keep Albemarle a great place to live.
Education: Bachelor of Science from VA Tech 1978; Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Auburn College of Veterinary Medicine 1981
Occupation: Liz has been a practicing veterinarian for 32 years. In 2008 she started and now operates Charlottesville End of Life Pet care and provides in home hospice and end of life care for companion animals.
Previous political experience: Albemarle County Service Authority Board of Directors: January 2006 through December 2009 and May 2010 until present. She is currently vice chair; Rivanna Basin Commission from 2008 to spring 2013; South Fork Rivanna River Stewardship Task Force 2008 to 2009

Her Mother and father have lived in Earlysville since 1975.
